FAQ Of General Hair Care and Feeding Not at all. Please DO YOUR BEST to wash on a daily basis, but LML will understand so long as we know you are trying. Better to miss a day than to not even try to do it daily. Trying always counts here; nobody is perfect but it’s close enough if you are making the effort. Our clients may have any variation of anything they like – there is ALWAYS a way. The rumor of no bangs on long hair is conformist, boring, and old-school. It is often someone’s stylist’s personal opinion taking over. Louise Marie is an artist, and a long hair expert who works on an individual assessment basis. She certainly CAN make anything work, if all aspects of a client’s individual situation are taken into consideration. She is certainly not going to impose conformity when there is so much fun to be had with a frame, bangs, fullness, detailing, or fringe. Louise Marie’s extensive experience and creativity of style reaches certain kinds of folks who are farther beyond a bun or updo, and options are Non-Salon-ish and astounding and exciting. Uniquely made by the guru long hair expert – but can be used on short hair too! There are many criteria adhered to in the making of our special for long and growing hair lines, but it will be the best you have ever used on any hair. It is very, very different from other product lines on the market; it can be used daily, while most directions and “rules of thumb” are for harsher products and do not apply to ours – that better your hair the more you use it. Use it often! Yes, of course! If it is impossible to morning wash, then you will have to wash evenings. Do try to be consistent whatever you decide you must do. The body naturally cleanses in the morning, so it’s good to go with that; it kinda messes it about in the evening, but better than not using our stuff at all. If you swim, washing twice a day is totally OK – if you want, twice as nice!!! NO. Our clients don’t worry about such ideas. Some types of women’s competitive ideas make others want to ‘even the score’. Don’t buy into it! The opinionators will just have to try harder on themselves, especially if you are naturally more attractive to the opposite sex visually AND as an independent thinker! If you can’t stand the heat… get back in the kitchen? Works very well! (No apologies for the untypical-ness of our ways!) The ‘palette’ of these 15 different shampoos belongs to the largest kit – not the simple -kits – and is called a MagicPack (link opens new tab). The Magicpack contains all the different properties and principals you need to help get the amazing ‘customized to the individual’ results. Each shampoo is used 3 days in a row and then switched to the next number lined up for you. This numbered list, called a shampoo rotation, will be sent to you once you purchase your MagicPack. You don’t need to worry about what to do, why, or when with this set of shampoos. A little help within reason, but hairstyling is NOT included in products prices. In fact, support was not calculated into any of our products prices, but she helps because of your common goal. The Non-Salon appointment is how and where members’ hair is done. Not only is it a little difficult to manage, it is unrealistic to think of doing hairstyling via the internet. Our clients developing shiny, full, soft, hair growth seem to have no problems dealing with their new and abundant hair. If your hair-past catches up with you, it is essential you see LML to get your hair set up longterm properly. (Seeing LMLonghairs exclusively as well as MagicPacking actually makes you a Platinum Longhairs® MagicPack Member, regardless of how long you can last between appointments here.) Save on reordering, help the environment, and save on postage by refilling when you come in – nevermind being safe from repeating localized ‘hair-accidents’. Those handy hair places are not to be frequented between LML visits; it is not necessary. And what is the point if it would not be done right? Are you decidedly, categorically DRY? Dry hair, as far as the hair products marketing racket goes, is a selling category (a symptom rather) and not a permanent condition. The mass-market products sell you a product that keeps you IN that category, so they can continue to market to your type. ‘Dry hair’ CAN BE and is fixed all the time by our line, being the opposite of what you are used to. Longhairs® products bring hair to normal, no matter where you started. We do not treat your current condition to keep it that way. The ‘dry hair’ oxymoron is like ‘hungry people’ – once they are fed, ARE they still hungry people? No. With our stuff, you get progression to normal, and it takes as many different paths to get there as there are reasons for dry hair ending up titled as such. According to the market, almost everyone’s hair is categorized as dry, or rather it is dried out and with their products it stays that way. Our clients who use our products properly don’t get dry-feeling hair. Our clients and users don’t have ‘dry hair’ because the condition is corrected and the client is retrained. We move forward from there. See more below if you don’t understand this reasoning. Before you read on, we are MANY years past being some sort of ‘theory’. We have 2 choices: to ‘market’ to you using your/their language, or to tell you the truth. Frankly our clients are very tired of marketing. Face it, watch the news: people are in love with sensationalism. Click-words sell products, but they won’t fix your problem. What IS the problem? I ask you, can you be more specific? But can you? Is it ‘dry’ or does it feel terrible and that’s the definition you know. Market teaches you that terrible feeling hair is you not them; that’s your hair type. Have you ever used a ‘dry hair’ category of shampoo or conditioner and had it cure it? I suspect not. Is it washing that makes the hair ‘dry’? With other stuff very likely. Depends what you use AND how you use it, both. Try not washing it, it gets more dry. Myth One, blown out of the water. If it’s repelling water, does that make it ‘dry’? You bet. Do people who swim in clean, fresh water every day get dry hair? No. Why is it that 99% of people out there have ‘dry hair’. Dry hair products and decidedly dry hair thinking, doesn’t accomplish a single thing. Perhaps that’s all there is out there; in fact it is all there is out there – that’s why you are here. So let’s say the dryness is not an issue – oh but… but… it’s a general sell-word and people use it a lot. It’s not a constructive description of what may be happening to your hair. What else would, you ask? Try explaining it, think outside the box. What makes you think it is dry? Try this: do you have symptoms? Yes, we can fix those things; but not illness, dryness, sleeplessness, cluelessness, fatness, skinnyness, hungriness – that one you know is malnutrition. But is malnutrition not eating right? not eating often enough? or simply hungriness? It is a symptom. Words are not fixable without learning to work with detail. Is it ‘dry’ in the shower? No – with our system water is your hair’s friend. So was it ‘dry’ when you were a child, ‘dry’ as an adolescent when you had pimples? Is your skin ‘dry’? Is your hair ‘dry’? Is your scalp ‘dry’? Is it ‘dry’ with oil on it? Is it ‘dry’ after weeks of no washing? Is it dry… Try to realize, it’s not grease or oil it needs; oily hair attracts dirt and grit, and grit wears out your hair and gives split ends. You know that doesn’t fix it. Longhairs® does, but we have to fix you first. Turn off the T.V. thinking. Second, realize the bachelor’s rule: dirty socks wear out faster than clean ones. Third, the longer you go between washings, the drier your hair and scalp will be. If you use Longhairs® it gets more moist (when used as she directs). We have done surveys, and 99% of the population thinks they are drying up. Who do they blame? Try it – ask them. Is it the products, methods, or myths? And did it help? No, I’m sure. Are they eating no fats? Don’t think so. Are they using shampoo that is not Longhairs®? Most definitely. Targeting one myth: would washing your hair daily make it ‘dry’? Does washing your face or brushing your teeth make them ‘dry’? It’s what you get and what you do with it. Does watering plants daily make them dry? Does hanging out with friends lead you into trouble and cause you to get no sleep? Only some do. Does sex make you pregnant? Does more sex make you more pregnant? Does a little sex make you less pregnant? If you like something, you’ll want to do it more often. You’ll make the time. Now let’s get back to shampoo: Is oily hair less ‘dry’?….. I persist… Does eating 6 meals a day make you fat, simply that? Ask a hypoglycemic, or a regular person on the same eating system. Will one meal a day of cake will make you fatter? Washing with harsh crap WILL manage to make your hair drier for sure! We have a line-up waiting for us to wash their hair 75 times with Longhairs®, and condition it a mere once, and it feels heavenly. That could prove my point: it would feel softer and more moist than ever. If it is not drying it out, one can continue doing it. It will be good, keep it up. I’ve almost made my point, but will you believe me? No. If you believe what you hear from the herd, you can let your hair get greasy/drying out all the time and see how sad you’ll feel. It could start to smell too. It’s not necessary to think long hair is supposed to be always oily to the tips. Our hair is maintained in a different manner, and you smell fresh and you shine!! If something is made a certain way, say like our long hair stuff, just think – we wouldn’t be making it for this long if it was drying out hair! Think outside the box. We wouldn’t advise you use our products a certain way if the results weren’t true. Think out of the box. If you want dry hair, use that ol’ market dry hair-making shampoo. If you want to keep dry hair, don’t listen to Longhairs®. That’s right, if you want dry hair, don’t listen. Use our stuff as directed. Don’t change the directions of a good thing because you ‘thought’ the instructions didn’t pertain to you, or doesn’t sound cookie-cutter typical. Don’t misuse our wonderful stuff in order to feed the will to fail. We did not omit testing on your individual hair type. Many years later – and no, all the clients here don’t have hair exactly like Ms LML, so don’t mess with success. Learn how to learn. Technique is one thing (it matters in sex too) and the facts and then practice are another. Here, if you don’t use it right, it’s like sex; it may not feel as right as it could. It’s not the equipment at fault, and it’s not the product. Don’t bet your money on staying dry-haired around here; you could lose the bet. This technique does not apply to other product lines. Other products will still likely ruin your hair if used as often as once a week – we are sooooo different!! Long hair is not ‘dry’ hair. But it does show you the linitations of what they can do. Dry hair shampoo doesn’t fix ‘dry’ hair; people do. Longhairs® does all the time, every time. And diet foods are not for those who are slim. Think about it; hungry people are not hungry when you feed them well and often. And hair? Don’t deny yourself all the pampering of 20 minutes a day. For hungry hair, no oil masking malnutrition. MagicPack feeds you well. 95% of ‘dry’ hair that comes in is incorrectly labeled and treated before coming to Longhairs®. Come and get your situation corrected, regardless what it is called. If you want it fixed, we are here. If not, sorry about your hair’s luck; maybe someday you’ll have lucky hair that gets brought here. No! Please! We’re not shooting drugstore shampoo commercials here, so let’s look at this logically: this is done for show on TV. It doesn’t work for long hair; it’s what shorthairs do. If you do wash this way, your hair will tangle badly, so please don’t stack the hair when you shampoo (or condition for that matter!). Just leave your hair hanging down and pat-pat-pat, squish-squish-squish, and massage to get the product evenly through before rinsing and repeating (see Shampoo Application Method). Personal opinion: I like it; it’s pretty. My professional advice: on the average person has a very narrow window of success. Henna is natural, and it does many things – some good, but mostly I find that it’s quite intrusive. Henna does have it’s purposes, but only on virgin and hair in immaculate condition. Henna is not a colouring alternative, although in the beginning the colors can be very stunning. Sometimes henna proves to be rather short term thinking for long hair that is a a long term thing with us. If you want to do what’s healthiest, it’s not the first thing to change towards a healthy path because henna can, and often does, prevent the absorption of water and proper conditioning components. When the colour from it is gone, the henna is still there (it’s wax). Even henna that’s colorless can have permanent residual results. It is a sealer, like a waxy substance left on the surface of the little scales of your hair shaft. It seals it so that it stays in whatever condition it was previously in. Once this coating is deposited on the hair shaft, it wears out unevenly and gets rough. Thus the only way to keep the hair shaft smooth after henna is to either re-apply it (more residue), or spend ages with my guidance and products to remove it. We have several supervised and successful users. Henna? Let’s just not do it, but discuss with me if you have a shine problem. You have the tools you need in your MagicPack (link opens new tab). I don’t feel it is; here’s why: I am concerned about your being exposed to elecromagnetic fields around electronics at night, especially around the head (e.g. cellphones or any electricity) while it is plugged in, turned on or switched off. It’s bad for your cells, and your sleep pattern. Let’s try to substitute something else, same effect. The All-Canadian Touque Solution: plastic grocery bag (decal facing out) then slip a nice thick touque over it – tooooasty!! This is a little louder till it settles in, but use a shiny-side-in mylar heat reflector blanket from emergency vehicle kits wrapped over a plastic bag, preferably a clear bag, and then a terry or cloth surgery cap, like a j-cloth material, over it all. It will heat up WAY hotter but WAY safer than a heat cap for overnight. A heat cap can be used safely by heating it up on your head, then unplugging it for the duration of the time. See our Sleepy Longhairs page for more! One of the reasons Louise Marie Longhairs went to all the effort to create and share her products is just to make you happy, and if you are happy we are happy too! When you’re that different, you have to! Our instructions were designed to produce the very best results (if you came to the studio, she would show you just how wonderfully these instructions do work) but until then enjoy what you are doing if it makes your hair happy. If not then let’s work on you understanding the instructions better, because the results are entirely reliant upon the method of use. You alone are responsible for the results you get; we just provide the tools. If you want to not follow the given directions just for the sake of not being willing to open your mind, that would be a whole other story. If you love it, well, you must be doing something right and here is credit for it. If you don’t, you know what you need to do. She specializes in this actually – in completely turning that hair of yours around and teaching you how to love and care for your still-growing hair. It will amaze you how much difference you’ll see in your hair, growth condition, health and appearance in just one visit. You’ll be glad you came! In fact, she can’t wait to help you! More people have this problem than you could imagine, so let’s not waste any more time! Are you ready? Let’s begin to grow great hair; yes, even YOU can!! Longhairs® trademarked quality hair therapy, scalp therapy, split end therapy, and even regular trims are very different situations that any salons’ quick-fix is a minimal snip off the ends – or cutting off the length you are working so hard to increase. Typical salon trims are often going to cause breakage, wear, and a need for the hair to try to correct itself, never mind the stress on hairs and hairlines. What she’s seen coming in on her first-timers proves this. With Longhairs® long hair services there are certain things that need to be done more than ‘just so’ and these tasks she does is NOT common knowledge. There are things that need to be aligned, coaxed, shaped, and trained into the hair, and you need to trust Ms Louise Marie herself at your appointment as to what it will take to maintain the path you both have decided on. Most hair salons pursue the opposite of what long hair actually needs, positioning the timing of their menial ‘dustings’ in order to make a constant flow of money – and so often removing all the growth that you’d gained since your last visit. Worse yet, some flash-in-the-pan new-idea long hair places are just cashing in on fads, or can be quite shockingly self-serving and strangely creepy in their motives. Meanwhile, LMLonghair will do fascinating things, like putting in self-stimulating lines, building up strength, doing special angles to prevent frizz, encourage or discourage thickness, provide style, speed up grow-ins or grow-outs, alignments, re-alignments, dusting, and trimming. As well, checkups and free bangs trims are often included in the regular course of your visit. Clients who must travel long distances can and will be set up so her work lasts as long as needed between visits, without clients doing any other trims in between – observing the motto: LML or Nothing Good question, and the answer is YES! I call that a re-juicing or the Double-Dip Trick. This is how you do the Double-Dip Trick: The longer, older, and over-processed bottom-half of your hair will gratefully eat up an extra smoothing of conditioner just because of the nature of it. So do the Double-Dip Trick just before rinsing it all out. Most hair will benefit from a Double-Dip Trick for moisture, strengthening, smoothing, and extra-good closure, and it may help towards a no frizzies juicy shine. Double-Dip Trick allows perfect arrangement of molecules after residual shampoo was squished out. Always keep in mind that leaving first application on to soak in for a while before Flexipicking is NOT as effective as leaving first application on to soak in after Flexipicking. If you’re going to let it sit, wait until after you’ve Flexipicked it, and after the Double-Dip Trick if you are using it. Sure, I’ve heard it used for a rather different feeling, not as shiny and soft – I’d rather the #10-Bs myself. I can see it being used to slick hair back to dry hard, instead of gel or hairspray, for anyone, not just curly. I’ve tried it on clients myself. With this one, if it feels good, do it – but watch for symptoms! There are beneficial effects from doing this one, and if you like it, use it with discretion. A great sunscreen for the hair in sun ‘n surf, or in pools under a swimcap. Tip: do it on very wet hair and scrunch it in, starting at the bottom. Don’t comb or pick again afterwards. Scrunching is done to saturate #19 into ends and then massaging up the shaft to blend it to match the healthy hairs, but day-old feeling. Right before it dries, twist your hair in one single twist (or two piggies), and hang it down your back wrapped in a zip-up fleece hoodie, and by the time you get to work, the kick will be out your of the curl. Ask me to show you in person how the African Queens solve questions like this, but more elegantly with a Pashmina. Fifteen minutes to an hour and length is regained!! Also, you can Smooth-Comb before toweling as you get out of the shower; it makes quite a difference in curl, as does putting it in buns on each side of your head when almost dry. Hair with our products (opens new window) responds quickly and well to any ‘forming activities’ that you might wish to do. No, that’s only with vegetables and macaroni! We have a perfectly-timed product closure time and effects that other (build-up) products need to be forced into. Just say “NO” to cool rinses! It is not recommended as we get plenty of shine without it. And no, doing it anyway (the ‘more is better’ approach) will not give you even more shine. The important ingredients in the Longhairs® products (link opens new window) will not soak in right or fall into place in the right times if you do a cool rinse; we just don’t need that sort of ‘help’ like your old products did. Yes, but #12 Protein Spray is only needed once in a while, for before or after seriously damaging chemical work (such as relaxing, foil highlighting, etc.), or once every few months on newly processed hair as a reinforcer, or when Louise Marie recommends it for a specific situation (hence the name “Prescription Spray”). Never use #12 after #13-A Blisstips Oil. This spray is like an emergency kit item; not used regularly, but when you do need it, you won’t have to wait while we send it. Mist sparingly for coverage of fragile areas (or squirt into end tuft) that need proteins replaced because they have been somehow traumatized. Favorite uses for #12 Protein Prescription Spray: Pull your hair smoothly across the back of the head from the side where your swirly crown resides and over to the opposite side. Try switching sides periodically for a few nights each month to rest the roots. The Pocahontas-style ponytail (also called a caterpillar braid) should be terry-tied every few inches starting right behind the ear lobe, so sleeping on that side puts the hairtie flush in the nook below the jaw-joint. This is done after brushing with our Kinder Brushes and after pre-treating. See our Sleepy Longhairs page! Hot rollers are probably the least harmful of the heat tools, and it’s hard to do anything wrong with these when using our products. Hot rollers are definitely better to use than a styling tool that gets hotter and hotter; hot rollers go in hot and cool down. With almost all of the hair care products that are available, any hot roller use would be a problem, possibly causing burning, crackling, splitting, drying out the hair, etc.. However, with the ingredients we use in our Longhairs® products, if they are used diligently and exclusively, you can use hot rollers all you want. Try a puff of #11 Magic Spray on the hair upon rolling or after removing the rollers, before hair cools completely. All hair, not just problematic or textured hair, gets best results with 5 latherings. only woth our products5 latherings is better than 4, and 4 latherings is better than 3 – for all kinds of reasons If it does no harm whyyy not?. Twice? Only if you’ve already washed that day. Three latherings and more latherings of only her products provide shine, moisture retention, adds nutrients, and balances, with strength and shine galore! Why not continuefor great results of a good thing? If your teeth and gums are fine, do you stop flossing? Carry on, and if time doesn’t permit, I guess doing your best to do this as often as you can is the best you can do. Having said that, if you are not satisfied with the results of doing fewer lathers, or start to have could be better …, the number of latherings will be the first thing to change/correct. Yes! Brushing with our Longhairs® Kinder Brush with a puff of our #11 Magic Spray on dry Kinder brush dry hair actually removes dead hairs as well as gently exercising roots by pulling evenly. Dead hairs left there will spoil your curl long term, so yes, but only before pre-treating at night. Overnight your hairs will rearrange the bonds in the shaft to curl correctly. Just brush enough to get the job done – definitely not 100 strokes! (That is a bit ‘old school’ and is not necessary with our system.) Brushing before pre-treating makes the pre-treat much easier to apply and therefore much more effective.FAQ Of General Hair Care and Feeding
