Can you please tell me why lanolin is used to treat the medicine combs? I did order and have some, but would a good oil work also?

Use nothing on your comb to treat it, but lanolin, preferably our lanolin, it is sister to the horn, from the same animal, oil is not just oil, it is not a matter of being 'good'? it must be correct though, it does matter. (I could envision LML making you promise before selling you a raw beauty...use only our unsulfonated lanolin, or nothing. To begin with, it somewhat waterproofs and seals it, any other soakingin will swell-up and ruin your horncomb.
